The UK’s solar farms and rooftops generated more electricity than ever before in the first five months of 2025, as the country enjoyed its sunniest spring on record.

That’s kind of a mixed blessing… Solar did well, but there really hasn’t been enough rain

I totally see what you mean. Very mixed feelings about this.

Energy prices will go down soon.. right?

Not sure about te UK but there are grids wherein the supply price is pegged to the most expensive and least used so as to encourage providers to produce the cheapest energy.

It isnt a bad idea hut it requires an off ramp for the beenfits to be passed on to consumers.

I believe our electric prices are linked to gas prices. I think it's to do with it being our main source of generating electricity but I could be wrong.

Not exactly: as pointed above, in the UK the cost of electricity is set by the most expansive provider that is needed. Most of the time that is gas. So electricity cost is high because gas costs are high

That is how it works on the UK.

This is cool and good and all, but also… yeah I should hope so! Installed capacity is going up not down and the conditions were historically favourable, so of course generation was good.
