"Both sides." "Hopes and prayers." "I am a victim, too."

This guy sucks.

The vaguely-anti-capitalist to full-on raving neo-colonialist pipeline.

Thom Yorke walks off stage after being heckled by pro-Palestine protester at Melbourne concert

The Radiohead frontman, in Australia for a solo tour, has previously denounced the pro-Palestine BDS movement and defended his decision to play in Israel

Very convenient timing to get on the fence Tom! Radiohead is Zionist trash.

"Everyone signed to the same record label as any band that includes Thom Yorke is a Zionist and therefore a Nazi."

Exactly the kind of shit response I have come to expect from Yorke.

Man, I never knew he was an ass.

Honestly, unless it becomes news I never dig down into a band enough to know whether or not one member or an another are pieces of shit.

The last time I remember was the front man from Queens of the Stone Age having multiple instances of attacking photographers at his show, which turned me off of QotS after that.

Sadly, I love Radiohead, but there's no way I can conscientiously listen to Radiohead now.

Now it makes me nervous who else I listen to is a douche. Well, douche I can deal with to an extent, but genocide denial is a whole other level of fuckery.

Edit: From reading the article he is critical of Israel, but in that 'both sides' type of rhetoric, and doesn't mention genocide at all, but regrettable lose of thousands of life. Which is the same wishy-washy rhetoric that many in the mainstream media use that don't want to be accused of being anti-semites or pro-Hamas. Which basically amounts to denial but in an indirect way.

Ugh, I don't see why at least one major figure can't just grow some fucking balls and tell Israel to go to hell outright. Seems like everyone in the mainstream is so damn mealy-mouthed about this issue, it's absolutely insane how much sway Israel has over the media in the US and Western countries in general.

Yorke also condemned Hamas, admonishing the Palestinian Islamist group that governs the Gaza Strip for the October 7, 2023, attacks that precipitated the Israeli military’s offensive in the region. “Why did Hamas choose the truly horrific acts of October 7th?” he asked.

An entire island of george orwells lol.

I was trying to find who else besides Roger Waters and Lowkey support Palestine, and it looks like there's a lot now.

Man, I used to be a huge fan of them, listening to nothing but Radiohead for months at a time. Completely stopped shortly after Israel started their campaign of indiscriminate bombings and he gave a similar statement to this one.

Between Radiohead, Kanye, Die Antwoord and this german zionist hip-hop collective called Antilopen Gang I really chose the worst possible artists to get into in my early 20s. Completely stopped listening to all of them over their fucked up behavior these past 5 years.

Edit: I have to admit I didn't read Yorke's actual Instagram statement when I wrote this message and took OP for his word here. I don't hate what he has to say there? Sure, the remarks about Hamas not returning all the hostages are somewhat tone deaf in light of the ever worsening situation Palestinians have suffered for the past 70 years, and he shies away from calling out Israel as the settler-colonial ethnostate that it is, instead opting to mostly blame Netanyahu and "his extremist government" (paraphrasing). But overall I think it's a level headed statement that warns against letting social media divide us further and clearly places culpability on Israel's side.

Hell, he directly calls out "the horrific blockade", desire to take control of all of Gaza, and murder of "endless thousands" of people. I'm not going to write someone who makes statements like these to a following of millions as a rabid Zionist, sorry.

Sure, I would have preferred he go further, but I expected something entirely different from OP's post.
