Every time you look down, your FOV slider just goes from 90 to 50, until you make a 5 second long move trying to move the hair in a way it still looks good while not falling into your face again

There's a reason I ponytail my hair.

I used to have long hair and was stubborn that I didn't want it cut.

I finally gave in to suggestions to try short hair.

Never going back to long. It is SO FREEING to spend 15 seconds brushing it, and a good portion of headaches are gone now that my head is lighter. No need to worry about bad hair days, it's fine ruffled and windblown.

Yeah, I had short hair for that reason, but im trying to look more feminine, and long hair is a good first step

Sounds like you need some hair ties. Or braids.

It is, that's why I tie it up if I'm doing anything remotely active

Yeah I tried growing mine out for a while and it was too inconvenient so I cut it

Head scarves are awesome. I also have a convertible beanie/scrunchie/balaclava/headscarf that I love.

The medium-length-hair wasn’t designed to be installed alone without any supplemental utilities. This is a common issue and can usually be resolved by installing some additional packages.

  1. Dependencies: Your hair setup might be missing some essential dependencies. Consider installing hairpin-utils or hairband-manager. These packages are quite popular and have been forked numerous times, so you'll find a variant that suits your needs.

  2. Package Variants:

    • Security-Oriented: If you're concerned about security (i.e., keeping your hair firmly in place), you might want to look into secure-hairpin or lockdown-hairband.
    • Efficiency and Lean Design: For those who prefer a minimalist approach, lightweight-hairpin or slim-hairband are excellent choices.
    • Extra Eye Candy: If you're into aesthetics, there are variants that come with additional decorations like bowtie-hairband or sparkle-hairpin.

One might also consider the classic hat-utils and beanie packages as a more complete alternative

I really love lemmy for this exact reason

Fucking telling me you use Linux even in a thread about hair

LOl, and I really love it that there’s a place where I can practice this sort of creative writing.

can i compile from source? and does it support ARM?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Absolutely, you can compile from source! If the source code is available and you have the necessary hardware, you can definitely compile your own headband. Many enthusiasts who venture down this path often end up creating custom modifications, such as cat-ears-headband or butterfly-headband. The open-source community is quite creative, and the possibilities are nearly endless.

By default, all headband variants should support ARM, but I don’t know why would anyone want to use it that way. However, variants of the hairpin package are a different story. I’ve never seen one with ARM support, but all of them support HAIR really well.

Sounds like you need to pick a different configuration. Tied back doesn't have the fov issue.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Its not long enough to do that

Theoretically, after a year or two my hair should be long enough not to move around freely after the slightest movement in the wind

Yeah, when you grow your hair out there is this awkward phase where it isn't long enough to tie it back. You can wear a sweatband, that will keep them out of your face at least. But even when they're longer, they'll still annoy you sometimes. When it's windy, you constantly get hair in your mouth and face. That's why I always have a hair tie on me.

Beanies/toques are the secret sauce for that awkward phase.

Sometimes we have those little epiphanies in the shower.. sometimes they come from other places. This is a home for those epiphanies.
