i'm not much of a video person, but good luck on your new community!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Literally me, I've been asking questions to get people talking and I've also been making content for people to look at and I've been commenting all over the place just so i can have discussion

whats your community?

sidenote: I thought I would be able to easily tell by clicking people's profiles, but apparently not all fediverse sites show the places you mod on your profile? the mysteries of the fediverse continue for me

It's not the community I'm Moderating but I've been asking questions on AskKbin, Deltarune, Omori and History and those posts are aimed to get more discussion

The Community i own tho is a subreddit for Arts, Writing, Photography, Music and Engineering which is CreateCord(i think it's on Kbin social) and it has no members yet but I'm getting people to join it and then I'll have a discussion with them over there

Deltarune?! Please send the community over. I'm in.

This is how it starts. These are the early days

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah! That's what's so exciting

I've been following this: https://botsin.space/@threadcount

and it's been incredible to see the growth.

Thank you for your efforts. Since joining lemmy i finally realized what a hard work it is for pioneers like you to build a community. I hope it paid off soon 👍

Lol I feel ya. I started a cocktail community and a succulents community and Im trying to get some engagement happening so I'll comment on every post and comment and I've got a bunch of own posts planned to keep things going. It's actually kind of fun for now, but I've never moderated anything before, so I am a tad worried about what will happen if they outgrow my modding abilities. Until then, I'll just keep dancing around and promoting the communities 🙃

Cocktail Community? Link it! :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Link to cocktail community please

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I am in the same boat... btw... I created a kitty community : D! https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/c/cats Join my kitty friend if you would like!!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

oo its got cats and cat memes? That's like my top 6 favorite things.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

🤣 same

My zillowgonewild clone has a couple hundred subscribers, but so far its been me and like 2 other people posting anything. It'll happen eventually, though.

I have no idea what actually moderating a community is like, so the limited activity is probably a blessing that I'm too naive to appreciate rn.

your WHATNOW clone? You've got another lurker now =)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Keep up the grind man

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same boat! Except mine is nsfw 🤨 ([email protected])

Someone had to do it. I hope people make the other ones I miss, or I might have to do it myself

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Hey I remember that community! I came across it the other day when I was doing ‐

... research.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh no, we have become like bots

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It sucks that we have to be like bots. But you know what works? Being like a bot.

The only way to build what we want to build is to roll up our sleeves and get to it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

It's fine by me. "Fake it till you make it" is an actual strategy, unless you are dealing with money

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

i haven't and don't intend to create a community bc i crumble under any tiny level of responsibility but i've been commenting on any post i have something to say on, and up/downvoting every post i see depending on the content. i've killed hours at work so far lol

Don't forget to comment, like, and boost from your Mastodon account as well.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I don't even have a mastadon account so I guess thats a whole pile of potential I can explore

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm just having fun chatting with people.
