Fab says we've initiated talks for Sesko. At least we're starting early.
He's also saying we're on the verge of having Big Gabi nailed down with a new and improved contract. Which is great news. I wonder if the new contract includes rights to clone him. Because he is an absolutely monster. Some fans of other clubs are starting to realize how good he is. But he's still ridiculously underrated by many.
This is big news, we really missed him during the run in
I know Gyorkeres has been absolutely killing it in the Portuguese league for a few seasons. But I feel like Sesko 's ceiling is a bit higher. Plus, he's been playing in a more competitive league, and he's five years younger. So it's very difficult to compare the two numbers-wise.
I would be very happy with either of them, since I think both would do a great job. My fever dream is that we sign both of them, but I know that's not going to happen. If I had to choose between them I'd probably veer slightly towards Sesko.
I always love the idea of transfer season, and the uncertainty and excitement of it. But it's such a hassle to actually sift through all these sources and a sea of bullshit articles. Most of them are so bad it's not even funny.
Case in point, Football Express:
Arsenal are also looking forward to signing Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window. It is also said that Arsenal are now out of the race to sign Hugo Ekitike.
Holy shit, which is it? Hedging your bets or sharing directly conflicting takes like that without clear context just makes you look bad!
And don't get me started on the clickbait headlines and the 'Arsenal legend says club will sign...' Usually it's someone like William Gallas (who is nowhere near to bring an Arsenal legend!) saying we should sign someone. And that someone is usually someone who is completely unavailable it astronomically priced.
You know what, I respect Thierry Henry...but I would like to see him placed in Arteta's position and with the circumstances to see how well he does. Yes the club needs accountability, but quit mouthing off when you don't have anything to show for it either.
I can see where he's coming from. We all want the best for our club and his words have some merit. It feels pretty damning that our last trophy was an FA cup 4-5 years ago and the likes of cheslkie and Spurs have claimed some form of silverware (albeit they had an easy time of it).
But, it's been a tough road since Arteta took over that I think has navigated really well. Look how much manager turn over other clubs have had with similar issues. How many pundits have compared the success of Arsenal under Arteta to that of United, Chelsea, Spurs, etc.
It's largely because of City being the behemoth they were that we missed out on the PL trophy twice. We have also been our own worst enemy at times for sure.
If anything, I feel like the club maybe let Arteta down and not financed the players we needed to remain competitive over an entire season. But, we also don't know how much is the club and how much is Arteta only wanting to bring in a specific type of player and not just jumping on any horse out of the stable.
