The end of manifest v2 is also nigh, less than a week away. It's all just coming crashing down this year.
I'm ootl on this and after a brief google search it seems like a big thing to be ootl on. What are some of the consequences of v2 ending?
Basically Google sits on so much browser market share that they decided to push a change through that'd benefit their business model which is ads and that means making adblocker extensions worse as @[email protected] points out. It's going to affect many other extensions, I imagine userscripts and userstyles will also be affected - if you use a Chromium browser.
The consequences of v2 ending is that you should use a non-Chromium-based browser, like Firefox or one of it's forks.

It's also likely that Google will use/require manifest v3 to access some of their services (like YouTube) in order to more strictly apply DRM and prevent adblockers/third party players. That hasn't happened yet, but it's the kind of enshittification that these companies like to do.
You can NOT use effective adblocker extensions with manifest v3, as it removed functions that they need (and impose some other limits to make them unable to update fast)

No it won't, don't buy into the Microsoft propaganda.
Well, they won't get updates; that's a security risk. They might not run Windows 11; that's e-waste unless they switch to Linux (with KDE for preference).
With the number of times a Windows update has fucked up my computer I'm genuinely more concerned about Microsoft messing up my computer than any hacker.
It's not a security risk to not get updates until there's a known remote code execution exploit in the wild, and by that point it'll be in the news and Microsoft will patch it anyway, like they did for Windows XP in 2017.

... Or not. That is the point of ending support: they are not obligated to anything like that.
You may be missing the point.
The point is Microsoft wants to (again) force/trick/scam people into buying new hardware. Whether they are lying or not, whether there is a workaround or not, is not the point.
The point is the #Endof10 campaign wants to help people exit this cycle of spending, polluting and tech blackmail Microsoft subjects its users to by offering them an out, helping them switch to Free Software systems. Things like Plasma on Linux are perfectly adequate nowadays for most people—and notice the "most", please: I know there will always be edge cases that can't migrate
But, for most people, with a Linux system decked out with a modern desktop and applications? They will find all they need to carry on being productive on their current machines.
