Are you sure that's what's happening? I think that would have more severe repercussions than shutting down Pocket. I read that they're planning to make Pocket's functionality a part of Firefox itself, instead. How much truth there is in that, I do not know.

They shut down another service as well. Google has lost a lawsuit saying it cant pay mozilla for the priviledge of being automatic search engine. That deal was literally half of mozilla’s revenue.
