That's just wonderful, comrade! Woodworking is the most wonderful hobby I've ever gotten into. I hate it. It's a time and money black hole that completely took over my life. If you're into power tool woodworking, it's dangerous, noisy, dirty and can get ridiculously expensive. I love every minute I spend doing it.
That square looks hella cute. I'm not even going to bother recommending you check out Rex Krueger on Youtube, because if you know Wood by Wright, I'm sure you're already familiar with his work. I've been meaning to get better acquainted with hand tools but it's incredibly difficult to find good hand tools where I live.
And I absolutely know what you mean about how different it feels to work with hardwood. Even though I'm using power tools about 95% of the time, I can feel through the tool that I'm dealing with an entirely different material. Each different wood feels like it has its own personality, and after a while you kind of get to know them in a way that's kinda like knowing a person.
