Are there any Lemmy apps other than jerboa that are in the main repo? It seems like the only option

I am enjoying Eternity which is a fork of the Reddit app Infinity

It's really good. Didn't miss a beat moving to Lemmy because of Eternity.

Its not in the main repo

That is what I am using now. Seems as the most robust out of the bunch. Tried a number, most felt like simple wrappers. Eternity feels like it has far more features, as an app. So far.

Waiting for a RedReader based implementation. Hopefully.

Can confirm, it is the only maintained one on the main repo, I guess the other ones will get there eventually.

"rant" incomingI must say, I get the impression (not backed by any data) that the mere existence of IzzyOnDroid's repo slows down the porting process of several apps to the main repo, because with the fact that it is more lax on the requirements while still being accessible through the usual F-droid apps, devs can do the bare minimum to get it on there and close the ritual "Add to F-droid" issue, so it creates an excuse for developers to postpone even further the efforts to fit their apps to the strict requirements of actual F-droid.
They don't get any incentive to do it actually, because most F-droid (app) users will also be adding Izzy's repo since it's so full with the latest open source apps, effectively watering down the main repository, the only thing is that Izzy limits the size each package can take up, so if it's too big it will have to go to another repo, be it self-hosted or the main one.
All of that said, I have nothing but respect for Izzy as he does a lot to get at least the F-droid inclusion started at all, roping in the devs of a myriad of apps scattered across GitHub and explaining what they need to do must be pretty tiring, so props to him

I agree 100%

Yeah, Izzy seems very active, helpful and proactive about his project. I see him come in and out Issue comments on Github projects. Definitely and dare I say, that he is committed.

he is *committed

Lmao, I should have seen that coming

Thunder (and Eternity) can be put in Fdroid via Izzy. However I would consider Obtainium over FDroid these days.

We need more software in the F-droid main repos

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My understanding is it is usually due to libraries. Want to support the official Google push notifications? Not in F-Droid.

Well I don't use proprietary services on my phone so that's not a big deal

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Most of them are on izzyondroid repo. I use liftoff and probabily there are 7 in total on fdroid using this repo.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Well I don't we need more apps in the default repo

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I dont think so. I use Thunder, but that is on IzzyOnDroid

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I've been using thunder for a while.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Its not on F-droid. Right now I'm using eternity and I'm unlikely to switch

Oh thank you!
