I genuinely don't know why this wouldn't work for crochet hooks other than the fact the hooks are unlikely to reach the bottom of the pocket. They ould potentially slip to the bottom and be a bit difficult to get out? In the first photo you can actually see they've put crochet hooks into the case on the right side and you can see they don't reach the bottom. I think it should be fine but it's one of those things you won't know if it's a problem until you use it for a bit.
