I don't think threads is federated yet. They just have plans for it.

ooh, for whatever reason i thought they were already. thanks for clarifying.
If you're using the website, the list of federated (or not) instances is on the menu at the bottom of each page, "Instances".
Hmm, well sometime when I looked at that I also saw a list of explicitly blocked instances. Maybe that was on sh.itjust.works.
