The lunacy of something as banal as a trade war with a genuinely autocratic regime. They will be told to tighten their belts against the US, and will happily do it. It pales in comparison to what people were told to do, and did during COVID.
Other countries had no issue making people stay home because they actually closed down businesses and paid people to stay in their homes.
Well, since the workforce is fleeing the US or actively being thrown out, it makes perfect sense to stop producing stuff anyway.
