You might’ve noticed the EU and Latvian flags in our recent brochures. Over 50% of our products are already made in the EU — and that number’s growing.

We’re bringing production closer to home to ensure quality, supply chain security, and transparency.

It’s not just a label. It’s a promise. 🇱🇻🇪🇺

@[email protected] @[email protected] how about actually making them open-source? At least the OS.

Routeros is based on linux, but afaik mikrotik only shares the source via email. A user set up an automation to send an email for new sources for each new routeros releases, and publishes the replies to this repo: https://github.com/tikoci/mikrotik-gpl

If you don't trust this repo you can also email mikrotik support and they should send you their kernel modifications. More info in this thread: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=215585

@infeeeee you mean mikrotik are sharing only whatever part of their OS they are forced by the GPL to share and only when explicitly petitioned to? How about releasing the entirety of Router OS under an open-source license so that we don't need to flash alternative operating systems on their hardware?

GPL does not define how you should share it, just you have to share it some way.

I'm just emphasizeing, that they are following the license requirements, unlike some other manufacturers who doesn't even share they required to, anything else should be a plus and it's their decision.

I guess if the full stack would be foss they couldn't really sell CHR and other software only licenses anymore.

@mikrotik I was just discussing with a few people that I switched from Netgear (US) to Mikrotik (EU) for my own and business purposes.

I had one doubt though, which is that Latvia isn't directly known for it's acceptance of LGBTQIA+. I know a lot has improved on that front in the past decade, but there still is widespread discrimination, and LGBTQIA+ people still don't enjoy the same rights and protections the general populace have.

Where does MikroTik stand on this? What's the culture like at MikroTik? Is it safe to be LGBTQIA+ for your employees?

@AngelaScholder @gmc @[email protected] The IT world tends to be more open-minded—people care more about skills than labels, and that spirit lives at MikroTik too. While the general public has been slower to change, things are moving forward. The 2024 Partnership Law now recognizes same-sex and opposite-sex couples, marking real progress.

There’s still a journey ahead, but the legal and cultural climate is improving for LGBTQIA+. We're 100% confident in further positive developments in EU and Latvia.

@AngelaScholder @mikrotik Thanks for replying! I've been using your routers and modems, but only recently found out you have a very interesting line of switches as well. Keep up the good work :)

@[email protected] @[email protected] good to know. #unplugtrump I already switched my home installation from Unifi to Mikrotik a while ago. RB5900 and a cloud smart switch working really fine. Only my wifi APs are still Asus (with #openWRT) because you were late to the wifi6 party 😉
