Enjoyable! My 4th ever straight razor shave, and I'm already getting more comfortable.

The default edge from Koraat treated me pretty nicely. Since I'm such a beginner at this, my expectations are still being set. Between the Moarteen and the synthetic edge that @[email protected] sent me, I'm starting to get a feel for what straight razors have to offer.

I might have learned one thing today in regards to my technique. With a DE, I figured out a while ago that going north to south on my neck gives me irritation with a vast majority of razors/blades. With a straight, it seems the opposite is true. I think it's mostly because I don't have good straight razor technique yet, and north to south is a much more natural hand movement than going south to north. Less stuttering, smoother motion, no irritation.

I agree with @[email protected]. That’s quick! I think that most of us find that a straight razor shave provides the most comfort. This is because you have complete control over angle and pressure. It takes a while to get the hang of this, but you are well on your way!

I really like that grizzly bay handle

Thanks! So do I.

I actually picked it up off @[email protected] a while back. It was my first "nice" badger knot. :)

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations Copper Inferno w/ Trotter T1
  • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy Ti
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
  • Lather Catie’s Bubbles - Dusk
  • Post Shave: Catie’s Bubbles - Reflection

Another damn good shave today. Really been trying to work my lathers better by adding more water slowly and my lathers have been awesome. This cream soap did not disappoint either. The scent notes of Amber, Honey, Hay, and Tobacco sounds like it would be heavy and overwhelming (at least for me), but it’s balanced so well that it’s like a very mildly sweet, fresh, yet warm.

  • Brush: Omega - 11047 Mixed Midget Badger and Boar
  • Razor: Ever-Ready Streamline
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE
  • Lather: House of Mammoth – Hygge
  • Post Shave: D.R. Harris – Marlborough

Joining u/EldrormR, u/VisceralWatch, and u/Semaj3000 for a tiny brush streamlined Hygge shave today.

The Streamline is really a lovely and smooth GEM, and it gave me a great shave. But enjoyable as this is, I'm looking forward to getting back home tomorrow and using the Moarteen again.

Today was Djunior's first real Easter egg hunt and he loved it. Now he has a chocolate stash that should last him months.

Have a lovely Easter evening if you celebrate.

  • Lather: 345 Soaps - Undercut - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
  • Aftershave: 345 Soaps - Undercut - Aftershave
  • Talc: Yardley Classic

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Amazing first shave with the Moarteen razor; especially because this was my first attempt with an edge that I created with a Japanese natural stone that I have not used before. I would be completely fine if this is the most I get out of this type of stone.

The razor itself is wonderful. I already own a Koraat 14-2.0, that has the same shape as this one, so it felt very comfortable and familiar.

  • Brush: Maggard - 24mm synthetic bulb
  • Razor: BIC Sensitive
  • Blade: Gillette - Perma-Sharp (1)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Lime
  • Post Shave: Fine - Italian Citrus Aftershave splash

Quick evening shave after a long flight. These razors kind of suck, but they get the job done well enough.
