Hey how can we troubleshoot when communities are not being federated?

For example, this community shows that there was an error federating to Lemmy.nz (but not what the error was). Previously it was showing as not allowed. screen shot showing metabolic_health@lemm.ee is not allowed to federate

Here are my settings: settings showing things like that it's enabled, disables NSFW, requires fediseer endorsement

There are other communities listed in this post, though really I'd like the tools to troubleshoot myself: https://lemmy.nz/post/21531352

Any help appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

Not sure if you'd see this so I'll tag you just in case @[email protected]

I tried it and it works as of now. But it could be timeout, rate limit or something else. I'm thinking of showing the errors on the management page (or with Grafana). I created a task for this. Then you can see what kind of problem you're having.

That would be amazing!

Not just errors, but any reason it's not federating would be helpful.

Initially those problem communities were listed as not allowed, despite no reason for 2 of the 3 to not be allowed. It would be handy to also see which rule is triggered preventing them meeting the criteria.

Interesting but potentially useful feature. I'll have to think about where to squeeze it in :)
