I crossed several states to get to the DC protest last month. I was slightly disappointed with how few veterans were there, although to everyone's credit it was in the middle of a Friday and not widely known about outside of bluesky and 50501's website as far as I know. I was also disappointed that the protest wasn't organized/run by a veteran and there was almost zero media coverage of hundreds to thousands of vets and their families on the national Mall protesting their government.

We should be organizing our own protests outside our VA hospitals. The American legions, VFWs, and amvets should be running it. They are impacted from the VA, Medicare/Medicaid, and social security side. Unfortunately, all of those veterans organizations in my area are filled with Korea, Vietnam, and Gulf War vets who overwhelming vote for trump to begin with.

We should be running for local and state offices because we understand what it means to work together to accomplish the mission. That mission is supporting and defending the Constitution and our fellow Americans in the process. We should be encouraging other veterans to run for these offices as well.

We should repeatedly remind our veteran brothers and sisters what trump and the Republicans think about veterans as well as what bills in Congress they support. Sending articles and CSPAN videos of vote results for visual proof and sources.

Edit: I would organize a protest at my local VA hospital, but I'm honestly not sure how to get in touch with enough veterans that would show up. Anyone feel free to point me in the right direction and I'll charge head first in that direction.

Veteran checking in. I've been thinking the same things

I dunno what to do. I'm a remote federal worker that's getting sent back to an office that's 50+ miles away from my home, so I've decided to take the Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment my agency is offering (this completely separate from the "fork in the road" Musk/Trump Deferred Resignation Program that was also offered, I didn't take it because I don't trust that bullshit made up thing).

That being said, I'm going to be unemployed by July, and I'm trying to figure out what to do from there. I want to get involved with some protest groups, but I'm not sure where to begin. I'll probably start looking for local groups and see what I can find.
