Exploring an instance local posts and communities is on the works
I cant think of a way to do this in the app, your best option (that I know of) is to go to the instance you want to see local communities for - eg: sh.itjust.works/communities - and look for the community you want and search for it in boost with the format !communityname@instancename - eg: [email protected]
There's a Community list right in this apps Left side bar.

They want a list of communities from another instance (singular), that list only has local and all

No, I meant a list like Local tab but for a different Lemmy instance.
Ahh, thought you were looking for a community list to choose from.
