Seems like it'd be a good mini PC to have in the living room or something to buy for less tech-savvy parents or kids

still pretty pricey for what it is but hopefully upgrades will make it worthwhile in the long run?

What upgrades would you do?

Soldered CPU/GPU, soldered RAM, X4 PCIE slot. There are no upgrades to be done.

upgrade meaning when a new unit comes out just buying the internals and not the whole case. Looked like it was somewhat cheaper buying that than the built unit when I looked. $799 for the cheapest version vs $1,099 for the base cost of the cheapest built version if I'm understanding right
