I'm worried that they arrested this guy and his wife and disappeared them to a torture facility under the notion that they're spies because they chatted with colleagues about work topics while in China thus giving away valuable 'murican knowledge and advantage to the dastardly Chinese. Either that or they got lucky and skipped the country first, hope it's that one but I'd expect they'd be saying something.
I think the more chilling part of this is the implication that a university is working with the FBI to erase this person at the drop of a hat, with no due process. Not that it's surprising, considering universities that take the side of the genocidal settler state israel over student protesters, for example. But it doesn't make it any less fucked up.
The FBI started as an extrajudicial hit squad to murder folk-hero bank robbers and the creator/first director was a deeply fucked-up man who used the Bureau to hunt down homosexuals because he was one and hated himself so much. It has never been a morally upright organization.
