That went so well for Chamberlain

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 hours ago

This is unfair to chamberlain tbh, history obviously given him a bad reputation, but it was less than 20 years since the the first world War, the bloodiest conflict in history, where 750,000 Brits died. The people wanted any possible alternative to going through that again. As well as Britain desperately needing more time to re-arm, as it had to cover the possibility (eventuality) of a global war on 3 fronts, that Britain could not realistically afford to do after the great slump.

He's also the one that gave hitler the ultimatum over Poland and in the end declaring war against Hitler.

If anything Chamberlain's legacy should be the reamerment of Britain and specifically hid commitment to the RAF who's budget he increased from £16m at the start of his Premiership to £105m by the start of the war. Without which we would have almost certainly lost the battle of Britain and, ironically enough, had him labelled as a war monger in Britain at the time.

This is an old man. Only thinking of himself. He shouldn’t represent anyone. No taxation without representation. The rich are stealing our money.

This man is out of his mind.
And/or he just wants to keep his fortune.

I leave it to the reader to decide.

Ah, yes. Peace in our time. How did that wind up, again? I forget.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 12 hours ago

It was peaceful..I think...wait, what are we talking about again?

Old twats in position of power, times change faster now, there need to be term limits and a banning of stock trading for these positions.

And for the love of God abolish qualified immunity.

I have quit the Democratic Party today. I just changed my registration.

Yes, I won’t be able to vote in their primaries in my state but it’s not like that helped at all.

Fuck em. If they don’t have any loyalty to the party why the fuck should I?

I'm sure Schumer and his ilk will thank you. Now they won't even have to pretend to care what you want etc.

I mean I get it. Current leadership is absolutely shit. Though I'm not sure why the right solution to that is to give up your voice and let them have power easier. Honestly I'm going to stay in the party and call them out louder. I'm not a Democrat anyhow I'm just in the party as an opposition to Republicans, and the fact there is no real Anarchist party. For obvious reasons. So why not have my voice heard and have what little bit of influence I can.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

If they pretended to care they wouldn’t have done a lot of shit.

They literally do not care, and have told me as such in many form letters sent after I contacted their offices.

For 25 years I’ve tried to have my little voice heard and it’s been ignored at best and ridiculed at worst.

I’m through pretending to be a democrat so assholes can take advantage of me and insult me when I dare to question them.

And finally: Fuck John Fetterman

I don't blame you at all. Is the Working Families Party at all active near you? They have a reasonable presence in NY (which, admittedly, is where Schumer is). I find that they represent my values much better than the Democratic Party, and I've enjoyed the people I've met through them.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 hours ago

Nope, the WFP isn’t. The IWW is tho

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 hours ago

Luckily in my state I can vote in the Democratic primary as unaffiliated. Not an option for the Republican primary.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

People acting like Chucky had a say in shit....

https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/charles-e-schumer/summary?cid=N00001093

He hasn't been making decisions for a long time. He does what the stock traders want, and they didn't want a shutdown.

I've been saying it for decades, but at least I'm not the only one saying it now:

We can't fight fascism with neoliberals.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Doesnt really change anything, he should still be replaced.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 12 hours ago

...

I'm going to be an optimistic about this.

So I'll be happy even people who couldnt understand my comment, still understands Schumer needs to be replaced
