Now he'll be scrambling through the trash cans of heaven, screeching with joy.
Asphodel, most likely.
I don't know, that little guy looks like it has guts. Maybe it earned its place in Elysium.
If he didn't earn his place in Elysium, I'll kill everyone in Valhalla and then myself
"He had the fucking coins, Paul!"
Was he even really dead, at least before they shoved Pennies down its throat?
In ancient Greek they put coins into the mouth of dead people to pay the ferryman for a trip over the Styx to the underworld. (I think it was bronze coins, correct me pls if I'm wrong.)
So yes it must be dead in the first place.
Right but opossums are known to play dead, so they're saying that it could have been playing and they just made it choke to death on a penny
Yes, that is what I was saying
I much enjoyed part 2 and hope that opossum stumbles into godhood
It goes to 9. The next one isn't titled like it continues, but it does. Keep clicking.
EDIT: 8 to 9. There are 10 comics, but numbered it goes to "9" in the title.
10, actually. 1-9 and an intermission with a different title.
I need more. I'm invested.
I meant 9 as what the last one is titled. But I get your point
5 is frames from a chill, slice-of-life animated feature: "4 heads are better than 1".
Spoiler: It doesn't like to be licked.

I don't know why, but this made me audibly giggle. I'm not sure if it's Charon's confusion in the penultimate panel, or the possum's gleeful/eager expression in the ultimate one.
Last line gets me
Who wrote this?? Nobody says "penultimate"!
Edit: yeah, sorry, this was just a line from a TV show. It was stupid.
I wrote this. I so rarely get to use the word "penultimate"; I wanted to. It was especially cool to be able to pair it to "ultimate" meaning "last" instead of (the more colloquial) "greatest".
Penultimate isn't that uncommon? Just because you don't personally hear it in your day-to-day life doesn't mean other people don't use it.
But what if your country doesn't have pennies?
Then it shouldn't have opossums.
But Canada.
Do you take card?
In this day and age, I sure hope Kharon would.
Oh you’re right! Those are going to be worth something someday..
Especially when they're covered in green oxidized copper.
I really like how the font changes in the speech bubbles based on who's talking.
But that’s impossumble! 😲
I think this is a series, maybe post the rest?
It is a series, you can click the source link given to continue.
After finishing the series, I am upset and I want more!
It is! I don't want to spam though so my plan is to post the others over time.
Ok, made me laugh XD ty.
Don't pay the ferry man!
Paw paw!
Reeer!
Charon is such a slut. He'll do anything for money.

Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
😇 Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
🏘️ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
🧬 Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
📋 Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
📬 Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.

- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)
