Summary

Trump’s EPA chief, Lee Zeldin, is attempting to seize $2 billion from a nonprofit coalition, including Habitat for Humanity, meant for building energy-efficient homes.

The funds, part of a $20 billion green grant program under Biden’s EPA, were placed in Citibank to prevent interference.

Zeldin, calling the move a “criminal scheme,” is pressuring Citi to return the money, citing “waste and abuse” without evidence and Democratic ties.

Despite GOP opposition, the coalition plans to proceed, aiming to build 72,000 homes, create 64,000 jobs, and cut energy costs by $1.26 billion. A congressional hearing is scheduled.

Trump was apparently deeply offended by the timing of Carter's death and the fucking manchild can't let it go.

I will happily watch Trumps funeral on TV when it happens, hopefully Friday.

The ratings would be through the roof.

Make it Pay Per View, reduce the deficit to zero in one night.

And then charge people $5 to piss on his grave.

Nothing. But it still leaves your weekend free afterwards.

[-] Rhaedas@fedia.io 137 points 1 year ago

Democratic ties.

I mean, yeah, helping people is not something Republicans would do.

[-] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 36 points 1 year ago

Helping dirtbag rich people is what Republicans do.

[-] Draces@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Are they still human without humanity though?

[-] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Still human but just also massive douche bags

[-] slevinkelevra@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago

De-humanization is their schtick, so let's not sink to their level.

[-] Draces@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

De-humanize the people stealing from Habitat for Humanity? Are we supposed to respect Nazis' opinions or not run the Klan out of town either for fear of sinking to their level?

[-] bss03@infosec.pub 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

We don't have to respect their opinions. (In fact we should vigorously and completely reject them.)

We do have to respect that they are human, and they deserve human rights, whatever those are -- the ones we wouldn't deny a diagnosed and self-identifying sociopath.

We can deny them power, even some freedom, but not their humanity, even as they deny ours or others.

[-] slevinkelevra@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Couldn't have said it better.

[-] Draces@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Cool you can enjoy the high road to hell. I'm glad you can feel good about yourself and really feel empathy towards them while they continue stripping rights from others. I will continue to see them as the monsters they are.

That's not at all what we are saying. You seem way too emotional, might be a good idea to take a step back and not start artificial fights with someone you basically agree with... I don't feel empathy for these people at all. De-humanizing is simply put counter-productive, as it puts a shadow where a light should be, and that is how those people are influenced to become this way, thus clarifying what goes wrong in society and eliminating the root cause by pointing it out every step of the way.

[-] Draces@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Lemmy has some of the dumbest people I've ever interacted with. Good luck with that

[-] slevinkelevra@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

You mean people that don't have any logical arguments, thus only try to insult others and start left-wing in-fighting instead of trying to do something productive? I see your point.

[-] Draces@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Fuck all of the way off. It's non-stop hypocrisy from dipshits like you that make meaningful discourse here impossible.

Yet more proof that his campaign was never about Americans, but about hurting people The Party deems beneath themselves.

[-] Ledericas@lemm.ee 57 points 1 year ago

he has stolen from charities before.

[-] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 30 points 1 year ago

A congressional hearing will only amplify the lies and do nothing to help building homes in any way, in fact I believe if they could demolish homes already built, they would. Bonus points if non-whites are currently inside the houses.

[-] gearheart@lemm.ee 25 points 1 year ago

So let me guess this straight. The Trump organization is busy stealing billions of dollars from taxpayers. Then somehow 1.5 billion of crypto is stolen by North Korea... Like... Really?

[-] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 24 points 1 year ago

So, is this the same behavior as god Putin? Take everything by force? Yup, Trump is a Russian spy/assets

[-] Maiq@lemy.lol 11 points 1 year ago

Agent Krasnov hard at work on his knees fellating his master.

[-] b3an@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

May god rest his soul, can President Carter not get five minutes rest in peace, after putting in a lifetime of work? To already make him spin in his grave at the jealous actions of that man-child is endlessly insufferable.

[-] letsgo2themall@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

I have 2 citi accounts. if they cave, I'm closing them and telling them why. not that they would care but still. I'll take the hit to my credit score. not like it's going to matter in the future anyway.

[-] Furbag@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

In the midst of a nationwide housing crisis, he pulls this fucking stunt.

Republicans can burn in hell.

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago

I didn't know habitat for humanity was still around.

Edit: Not sure why this is being downvoted. The Habitat for Humanity in my area has had it's doors locked since COVID.
