Sorry if this isn't relevant here but it's the only place I could thing of posting this

I'm looking to make manga of my own in the future but I'm still slowly learning to draw in my free time and am still a long ways to go before being able to draw.

But I've been writing down every story idea thats popped up in my mind instead of letting them dissappear but it's getting to the point where it needs to be organised

The features I want in the software are

  • Has to support Windows 11
  • Must be free, preferably open source
  • Allows hyperlinking to other documents
  • Has the ability to tag documents
  • Has folders or categories

I already use it to edit local copies of gitlab snippits before commiting them but I'd have to check if it has all the features I need

Edit for my own and other people's references:

Obsidian:

Supports tags: Yes

Supports Windows 11: Yes

Free: Yes

Open Source: No

Linking to other documents: Yes

Folders: No clear information on this

Categories: No

I had to think of Obsidian as well. Even if it's not open source, the devs are very transparent about their software. And categories is what you could create via meta-data and use a plugin to easily find them. Folders you can create as well.

Thank you for recommending this, it looks really useful and it looks really easy to read as well

Late reply but what do you think of novelWriter? looks like obsidian-esque text file manager & editor tailored for novels

Supposedly, the open source equivalent to Obsidian is Logseq https://logseq.com/

Sync across devices is still in beta though, and only for sponsors and backers so far.
