I have no idea whatsoever whether it's The Meta or not, but heightened senses is a top-tier perk in my book solely because I am bad at avoiding those horrid things
DRG is one of those games where you can pick whatever perks you want to cater for your playstyle. I also remember that there were meme mods that allowed you to hear a funny sound as soon as those lock onto you. Not sure if it's still a thing. lol
I do love that aspect of it. Like I know I could probably be a little bit more effective if I brought my hyperpropellant PGL instead of a shard diffractor, but I like the big laser pointer and it's easily good enough
I use that perk on my main scout builds, helps a lot when working solo to not be surprised by leeches and grabbers.
On the other classes, i usually find Iron Will and Dash to be more essential. On leech cluster maps, I'll often just spray and pray the ceilings of any big rooms as gunner.
