The party is a private organization with no obligation to anyone.

So we have no obligation to them, no matter how much they insist on it.

I'm incredibly optimistic about the chair election, but if they go with a neoliberal again, 2/3/25 is when we need to start talking about a 3rd party.

If there's no pressure from the left, they'll keep moving right.

Start a third party now

I said September 21, 1996 was the time, but as the old aphorism goes, the second-best time is now.

I've been waiting for the American left to pressure for ages and I don't think they ever will. I say start the third party now.

Bruh, the election is 2/2/25...

That's worth the wait to see if they actually do the right thing

Dumb as fuck.

Yes, attempts to reform the Democratic party have had disappointing results. However, third party approaches have been going on just as long, if not longer, and have been even more unsuccessful.

Every single damn cycle third party strategies get to reset the clock and pretend that they just haven't been tried yet, so we should finally do it this election. Then they fail, and the bullshit starts all over again.

Third party approaches DO NOT WORK in a FPTP election system. They never have, and they never will. They don't win elections, and they don't pressure the parties to do shit.

Inside strategies took one of the furthest right establishment Senators and made them the most progressive President of the last 50 years. (An admittedly low bar, but still a clear indication of a shift). What have third party campaigns accomplished?

"But who will make this decision? Officially, it’s a secret. According to the DNC, there are 448 active members of the national committee, including 200 elected members from 57 states, territories, and Democrats Abroad; members representing 16 affiliate groups; and 73 “at-large” members who were elected as a slate appointed in 2021 by the party chairman, Jaime Harrison"

Some of these people are appointed and some are elected? How the fuck does that work? Just some archaic hodge podge system held together by tradition?
