Good grief, I really wish Musk and Xitter would both fuck off to Mars. I'm so tired of hearing about that asshole, and I have no idea why anyone is still using that dumpster fire of a platform.

Edit: typo fix

He'll never go to Mars. He's too much of a coward to get on one of his own rockets. I mean fuck Bezos, but at least he was willing to put his money where his mouth was and go up on a Blue Origin flight very quickly.

Not that much risk with just going straight up and falling back in an oversized bottle rocket. I'd do it. LEO and beyond is a different story.

Also I think Musk's plan may have been to send indentured servants on a one way colonization trip, I don't remember him actually saying he himself will be going. The oligarchs are starting to eyeball the unfathomable wealth scattered through the solar system as Earth gets squeezed dry. Get ready now for the classic robber barons, but now iiiiinnn spaaaaaace.

FWIW, he has said he wants to "die on Mars".

Oh well, then who am I to argue? Let's hope for an engine failure on landing then...

What an idiot. Mars fucking sucks. It's an inhospitable desert world.

How do we speed that wish up for him?

He's literally bought the social media platform that Trump used to control the (inter)national discourse for four years and modified its algorithm to suit his interests. He's copied Trump's tactics of maintaining media coverage by pushing out enough insane shit to capture the daily news cycle attention. His notoriety comes from his wealth and not an elected office, so we will never stop hearing about him for as long as he owns twitter and the media has the attention span of a gnat.

If you're european, consider signing Ban X in EU.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There is an official mechanism to do petitions with the EU. Using change.org is not it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

Sorry, i'm not european and don't know the effectiveness of it. I just wanted inform the people who could vote on it here.

This is what the tik tok ban should've been. If a foreign power is using algorithms to influence the public then the solution should be to open up the algorithms. This is one thing i think bluesky did right, algorithmic choice is important. That way if some crank like Elon gets control over one of these companies people can just switch and ignore his nazi propaganda algorithm.

With the whole world going right wing, I'm surprised they didn't give him an award.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They have access to X's proprietary code to affect what algorithms it uses?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

They open sourced it a while ago when Elon first took over, looks like they abandoned that initiative though since there's been no commits in 2 years. Maybe they'll tell them to actually follow through and keep it up to date with there current internal branch.
