Hi! Just ordered a couple of Jinhao x159 for me and my wife. Hopefully they will be delivered next week ๐Ÿคž

Anyone got experience with these pens?

Only TWSBI & LAMY on my desk ๐Ÿ˜…

Lamys are great! I already own a Safari and an AL-Star ๐Ÿคฉ

I've got two! I love how chonky the pen is. It writes quite well out of the box. It just felt a bit dry for me, but I love wet pens so that's probably a me thing. I just tuned the nib to write wetter.

People say it's a copy of the MB 149. I've never tried a Montblanc, since it's out of my price range, but I'm quite glad to have a cheaper alternative because the thickness of the Jinhao x159 is perfect for my death grip haha.

I cannot compare it to a MB 149 either! ๐Ÿ˜…

But I'm excited to try a really chunky pen - I'm used to Safaris, AL-Stars and Kaweco Sports :)

I have a 159 and the x159. I've also held a montblanc 149. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I would say it is a copy, but obviously the nib is no where near the same. It is still a good and fun pen to write with. I hope you enjoy it!

I have an 159 but not an x159 - so I understand that this is now acrylic instead of metal? I'd be interested to hear your review!

My 159 works really well and is a good pen, but I barely use it because of the weight. I like to post my pens but that's really infeasible balance-wise with the 159's all metal construction. Looks like the x159 is substantially lighter but also marginally shorter when posted.

Post pics and thoughts when you get them??

I will try to remember that! I'm pretty excited to see what a 12 eur pen can do ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Have you gotten the pen yet? I was intrigued by your post and ordered one too... When it gets here would be great to compare notes!

Yes! I did receive them yesterday ๐Ÿ˜… The built quality seems pretty good - but the nib (Fine) is not as smooth as I hoped. It has some skipping, specially on horisontal strokes.

Sorry, no, but Iโ€™m interested to hear about your experience when you get them! My understanding about Jinhao pens (I just ordered several 82s) is that your experience with the nibs may vary. But they are replaceable and can be smoothed out when needed.
