I don’t like DeSantis or Disney, but in this particular instance, I am in favor of Disney.

The man has gone and gotten his dick stuck in a finger trap. At this point, i don't know that he's capable of walking away from this; the right time to do this was a while ago. Trump, while I'm not fan of his, would have managed the politics of this much better, in terms of accomplishing his goals. He would have launched the first attack, declared victory, and walked away. Ron "Thigh food" DeSantis seems to actually be invested in winning, by whatever metric he uses, and he is just not going to win against the Nazgul.

So, in short, Let Them Fight!

On one hand, what he's "saying" isn't wrong, at a fundamental level. A corporation should have to follow the same laws as everybody else. That said, it's kinda obvious that Disney has had no major issues arise from their special status in Florida, and the only reason he's going after them isn't because he wants to level the playing field, it's because they had the guts to stand up to him and his hateful policies, so he's trying to be seen as "tough" on big corporations to bolster his chances in the presidential election.

There's also many other special areas like the Villages, and he made sure not to touch those. It's obviously just a direct attack at Disney, targeted for the crime of not being bigoted enough.

It's also hilarious because having a corporation instead of tax payers pay for maintaining roads and utilities is a "small-government" wet dream but he's intent on trying to get rid of it.

Disney also overpaid taxes and things like that. He really wants to slaughter the goose that lays the golden eggs.

the feud is so dumb but the best thing that could result from this is if DeSantis attacked copyright laws to "attack disney". that'd be amazing.

I like where your head is at, but I also know DeSantis would "attack" copyright law by, like, allowing a gas company to buy Disney properties, and nothing else.

You're right and it's depressing lol

Of all the things that would hamper DeSantis' candidacy, Disney was not on my list before this spat.

Seeing Ron repeatedly trying and failing to go against the big mouse is like watching someone climb up a grease-covered slide.

Anyone from the outside can see it’s hate that drives him.

Don’t forget narcissism and the thirst for power.

This change is more due to his 2024 primary battle with Trump.
