The pardons are going to individuals who were convicted of nonviolent crimes such as drug offenses, the White House said.

Good choice.

He has also issued categorical pardons to people convicted of using or possessing marijuana, and former military members convicted of consensual sodomy.

If it is consensual sodomy, why would anyone care they were involved in it?

Sodomy is against the UCMJ. Technically, some of them could have just gotten a blow job.
