Progress, but 66% is still happening. Let's hope he manages to stop it completely

This is 100% good news. It's easy to get caught up in the gloom of knowing that the amount of deforested land is still increasing, but it's good to focus on the positives. It's easy to get depressed about what is happening to the world, and that helps no-one. This is good news - we should applaud it and feel slightly happier.

66% is a large percentage and over the last few years we've lost a ton of rain forest.

Yes, the article headline is misleading - the trend that is reversed is the accelerating rate of deforestation, not the rate of deforestation itself.

Good news!

Thank you Brazil.

I hate the use of reverse here. Yeah the trend is being reversed but its not like its growing back.

No, you should be happy that the pace of deforestation is slowed! /s

Seriously, I guess it’s better than full steam ahead, but it’s telling when this is framed as a win.

We’re all fucked.

Thank goodness, the rate of destruction there was getting really scary. Hope they keep it up

Even though I hate Lula, as a Brazilian this was one of many reasons I voted for him over Bolsonaro. Still, there's a lot of work to be done.

That's a start but there's a lot more to be done.
