Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

They're not a Trojan Horse. They're just the Trojans, they knocked on the gates and said "yes hello we would like to come in to rape your women and children, pillage your valuables, and destroy the city." And the citizens said "hmm yes eggs are a bit expensive" and decided to open the gates to willingly let them in.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Well, some of the citizens did.

That's the Greeks, not the Trojans in the Iliad. But yes, The rest of your statement is correct, it's just the Greeks were at the gates of Troy, not the Trojans.

Is this the actual vehicle? Because a Trojan horse implies it isn't immediately obvious from like 2 fucking years ago ..

I don’t know if Thom Hartmann just posts to multiple sites or if “AlterNet” is just reposting his original article from the Daily Kos, but he posted it there first and there doesn’t seem to be a paywall.

But I’m halfway in and this article is wild. A lot of these things we’ve all heard about or maybe forgotten, so it’s nice to see Trump‘s history laid out concisely. Wild stuff - I totally forgot that his ex-wife is buried on one of his golf courses and died by…falling down the stairs, of course.

Of course she fell down the stairs, the windowsills were all getting painted that day! Do want to not pay a painter for another days work..?!

Well, the US for all intents and purposes is owned by Russia now. Of course Putin's goal is to collapse it, and every Republican is working for him.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

Putin will declare war on US. Trump immediately surrenders. Putin annexes the US. Then invades Canada and Mexico.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That’s the intent, Republicans have never liked the U.S. or anything it stands for, they’re only self-interested

never

Well…

After the MAGA people realized that their politicians collapsed the United States comes the...

Save America Falling Again (SAFA)

They'll never realize that. It'll always be the Democrat's fault. It doesn't matter if the Republicans control every aspect of the government, it'll be someone else's fault.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

It there’s no democrats to blame, then it will be because not enough brown people were deported. If there are no brown people left to blame then it will be because the nation isn’t ’christian’ enough

Paywalled, can you dump the text?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Archive.ph is my new goto to avoid paywalls

I really wish their was a bot that would auto generate links for us.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 hours ago

Here’s a cool trick,

Create a bookmark for archive.ph then go in and edit the destination to the following:

javascript:void(open('http://archive.today/?run=1&url='+encodeURIComponent(document.location)))

Now, anytime you are on a page that is paywalled, select this bookmark and it will automatically send the current page to archive.ph and give you the non paywalled copy.

Normally, 12ft.io works, you just need to put the url after theirs and will get a non paywalled link, like this https://12ft.io/https://www.alternet.org/alternet-exclusives/trump-trojan-horse/

Otherwise, use ublook and block javascript, it will work most of the times
