The best part of SG-1 was the fantasy that there are people of conscience and character leading the defense of humanity. In reality the U.S. would be making deals with the Goa'uld to force Jaffa to make iPhones or something.

The whole show is just plausible deniability.

And the "Wormhole Xtreme" episodes are just their attempt to head off anyone SAYING it's for plausible deniability. "Oh, you mean like the episode in the show? Oh you silly crazy people!"

It's all one big conspiracy to keep us in the dark.
