I just re-read the title out loud to myself and I know exactly what you mean...the normal Sears catalog always sufficed. π
I remember the days of reading through those catalogs with anticipation and hope. Personally I think back fondly on the ultimate catalog, consumers distributing. Fill out the catalog card after weeks of pouring over toys and give it to the parents, instant Christmas list

After IKEA stopped sending catalogues by mail I think Lee Valley might be one of the only ones left. Although last year Amazon sent me a fairly thin Christmas Gift Guide which was somewhat bizarre but hit the nostalgia for these.
I miss the MEC catalog.
