Thanks to anyone who approves me to join for Lemmy through this lemmy.ml instance.

P.S., I tried three times to sign up through the lemmy.world instance, but it failed. πŸ₯²

Welcome! Have you found the Lemmyverse Explorer? It's a great way to find communities to join, and other instances in case you want to make a backup account.

Thanks for the all input you give to me. But, I’ll try to survive and continue to sustain in this instance as long as I can. Let say one day I’ve been kick out from this instance, at that time I’ll quit Lemmy forever.

Oh ya, for sure, but at least check out that site for the different communities you can subscribe to (the equivalent of subreddits here).

I also use these communities to find other ones: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Thanks, mate. But which one are the most active from all that three communities that you share to me?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

All 3 are pretty active, although the bottom one is a bot community hat automatically finds rising and popular communities in the fediverse. The top two are similar, but one seems to be about just generally bringing attention to communities people want more users in (community promo), and the other is about advertising newly created or revived communities (new communities).

I personally subscribe to all 3, but I'm always trying to find new communities to add to my home feed. I prefer using that over All or Local.

Noted with thanks.

Welcome, friend!

I'd advice you to be cautious with lemmy.world, it's turning into a new Reddit

(and it's bad for the network/federation to have such large centralised instances anyway. So you'd help keep the network healthy by choosing an instance besides .ml and .world)

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Thank you, mate! Luckily I can’t sign up through the .world instance.

You probably already know the join-lemmy.org instance picker, but in case you don't, here it is:

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

Oh that is the instance finder, right? Yes, I already know about that. My bad. Thank you anyway.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

Not yet, mate. Thanks for the link.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Keep trying on other instances unless your views align with .ml. Otherwise you'll be automatically deemed a tankie by a lot of people and that might alter your experience on the fediverse.

Welcome to Lemmy!

Thanks for the advice, mate. But, can I simply move to the other instances or I need to make a new account in that particular instance that I want to move?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago (3 children)

youd have to make a new account. also there are other platforms that fully integrate with lemmy like mbin example: https://moist.catsweat.com that dont look like someone forgot half the css.

Btw, I just aware this morning that you’re the founder of Lemmy. πŸ˜‚ It’s my pleasure, Mr. Founder.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

One of them, @nutomic is the other, but we have a ton of contributors now. Glad to have you.

Hi there! I would reccomend continuing to poke around at any instances that seem cool to you.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But I’m too lazy to make an another account. πŸ˜‚ Anyway, thanks for the advice, mate.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's ok lemmy.ml will make that decision for you sooner or later.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I do hope it’s a pretty good decision for me. πŸ€—

Hello and welcome! I didn't see a couple things mentioned that I thought were very helpful to me with the instance choosing, so I just wanted to pass it along...

If you look at your account kinda like an email, all the emails can communicate with each other, just like the instances can communicate. Though, an instance can also block another so thay it can not be seen/interacted with. Like, gmail deciding they will no longer accept yahoomail, for example.

.ml has been blocked by a variety of others, so you may be missing out on some interests elsewhere, that you would enjoy.

I use an app and have a few different accounts, the app lets me just swap my sign in profiles back and forth as I like. Sometimes a server goes down or an update goes bad. Having another account let's you check in on the action, on those who are still up and running while the other gets worked on. You can even use the same name, your @ will just change.

Initial sign up is roughest step really... but not much harder than grabbing a new email!

OK, that was more than a couple, hopefully something was helpful though and helps your experience here!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 16 hours ago

I never knew .ml was banned by other instances. This explains a lot actually

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

That’s exactly what I thought. Instances is like email providers. I just hope that we can use just a single handle that can choose different kind of instance just like Reddit. It’ll a lot more easier I guess.

First of all, welcome to lemmy.

Second of all, make a second/ backup account on a smaller instance based on what youre gonna use Lemmy for.

.world is a shithole full of fascists and reddit libs. Probably for the best you joined through another instance.

Welcome to Lemmy! I hope you have a great time here! πŸ˜ƒ

Sometimes instances can have technical problems, but they are usually short-lived. It's fun to explore other Lemmy instances though!
