I thought they were supposed to taste that way. What?!

[-] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

I have no idea what they're supposed to taste like, but for me even like a few slivers of beet in a salad will just fill my mouth with a revolting taste of dirt. My mom didn't think it was real and kept trying to hide beets in my food when I was a kid, and only gave up when I set up a blind taste-test to convince her lol.

I'm completely opposite. I like the taste but I literally just thought the dirt taste was normal. But I like funky weird food flavors in general. Now I gotta know what they are supposed to taste like.

What if it's the "soap tastes like cilantro" gene? Either way I have it. You know, sometimes I just put dish soap on my bánh mì instead of coriander. Much cheaper in the long run.

Especially if you enjoy shidding and farding out of your doodoo ass

[-] [email protected] 16 points 9 months ago

Scientific racism but for shitty pallettes

[-] [email protected] 14 points 9 months ago

Correct. The coriander soap gene, that's real.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 9 months ago

I'll take your cilantro if you're not going to finish it.

[-] [email protected] 17 points 9 months ago

I always dump a bunch of it in beans and it’s always a treat slurping it up like noodles

[-] [email protected] 13 points 9 months ago

Ngl, I've always wondered if it was a bazinga brained way to say "10% of people don't like cilantro" which to me seems like a normal ratio of people who don't like a certain food. It does taste like soap, but I like it.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

There's no way people are tasting what I am. If there's a salad on the other side of the table with coriander in it, I get a waft of soap so strong that my brain shivers while everyone else smells nothing at all.

I have a very expansive pallette but coriander is totally inedible. Nothing tastes like it. (although, I don't notice it so much if it's cooked)

[-] [email protected] 12 points 9 months ago

I'm genetically superior and can enjoy proper salsa

This is the endpoint of dialectical materialism.

Thank you. Someone needed to say it.

Next on the chopping block: the asparagus smelling pee gene

[-] [email protected] 5 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

It doesn’t smell like pee. It makes your pee smell like sulfur. But it either doesn’t for some people, or they can’t smell it when it does.

This is now my favorite post. Based, I say. Based as fuck.

Cilantro is great, but ginger tastes like soap to me.

Could be on to a new fad though: the whiskey + soap cocktail, for the Tide pod crowd.

What about the "celery tastes like (bad) sour water" gene? I always thought they were closely related.
