Many indigenous tribes actually had some really great innovations in warfare and turning it into a less lethal and for lack of a better term more sportsmanlike competition. The whole idea that they were just as bad as their conquerors is just more colonizer apologia.

They "lost" because the colonizers were far more inhumane than they were and once they changed tactics and fought on equal footing they kicked the shit out of them, at which point the colonizer turned even more genocidal targetting noncombatants and famously food sources like buffalo.

The reason the natives "accepted" all those terrible deals is because a lot of them didn't have the concept of owning land.

Imagine of some guy came up to you and was like

"that's a really nice public park you've got there, can I give you $20 to use it."

And youw are just like "uh that's really not necessary it's publ8c space anybody can use it but thanks for the gesture i guess"

And then the next day he came back with his friends and shot everybody in the park and said it was theirs now because you sold it to him.
