Focusing on QoL over AI would be a great idea for a while. Or at least used hard-coded automation or machine learning that functions on any device.

It would be fine if the phones stayed the same and got cheaper over time. At the moment, price are getting inflated over gimmicks, and nice features like audio jack are getting removed

You will wait a long time and still see no results. What's wrong with existing Chromium or Firefox?
Chromium is controlled by Google, Firefox main point is add-ons (especially Ublock) but it has nothing else to offer unless you sync devices
I get the point of chromium. But, for firefox if you argue about it being useless without add-ons. The same can be said for chromium browsers apart from it being controlled by google.
