Gavin Newsom fully admits here that he cares more about the race to be the American Empire's next cheerleader than a vote for a proposition that actually fucking matters.

These local referendums in CA for propositions are one of the few elections that actually matter. Proposition 36 would essentially criminalize homelessness and poverty, increase prison time for nonviolent offenders and potentially even hold drug dealers liable for murder for people overdosing.

Its absolutely horrendous, is polling with overwhelming support and Gavin Newsom is too busy campaigning to be Kamalas next HUD secretary or whatever.

Californian liberals yearn for fascism, suggesting that the homeless shouldn’t be executed would destroy his political career. Not that he actually cares about the homeless, obviously.

Governor's Office: "Hey! I'm so glad you reached out. I'm actually at capacity / helping someone else who's in crisis / dealing with some personal stuff right now, and I don't think I can hold appropriate space for you. Could we connect [later date or time] instead / Do you have someone else you could reach out to?"

Without further context, I believe Newsom actually wants Prop 36 to pass but some part of him thinks it might be bad to actually say it out loud

To oppose it? He already pretty much ordered localities to enforce it or lose state funding.

He was the biggest proponent of "removing the homeless". If it weren't for him the Supreme Court probably wouldn't have even ruled on it.
