The bot requires approval (whitelisting) from your moderators/admins, not mine. LiveThreadBot will work for any community federated with lemmy.world. Alternatively you can very easily run your own instance of the bot.

Considering it. Probably will. Problem is it doesn't seem to have some games, like our game tomorrow.

and also it only posts 15 minutes before the game

That can be made configurable if needed

Would it be possible to do up to a day early? Cuz we tend to have pre-match threads so people can discuss like lineups and what they expect and stuff; just not sure if that might be a bit server intensive if it updates live.

You can change how long before kickoff the bot will post a live thread with the command demonstrated with the Bot Maintainer account. The time input is in seconds.

Only mods/admins can change it for a community.

In regards to live updates, the bot checks for messages once every minute. It updates the live threads every 30 seconds, however I've changed it so that it only updates every 10 minutes until 30 minutes before kickoff. Just to spare ESPN from being needlessly spammed.

Post buffer time for [email protected] set to 1 day, 0h. The bot will now post live threads 1 day, 0h before kick-off.

@[email protected] Am I doing this right? idk why tagging people doesn't seem to be working for me lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You first tag didn't direct to lemmy.world so the bot wasn't notified. When tagging someone on Lemmy you should be able to open their profile by clicking on the tag when done correctly.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My Lemmy hasn't worked with my tags in terms of forming links for ages. No idea why.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It seemed to work this time, the bot responded to you once you tagged it with its instance name.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Ye but it doesn't let me click it. Ah well, so long as it works. Thanks! If only ESPN actually listed all our matches...

Bot whitelisted for [email protected]. The bot can now post live threads in this community without requiring elevated privileges.

Tweets like this are a great engagement farming tactic on football twitter.

A silly statement made with the intention of being laughed at that gets quote tweeted by a bigger account. The quote tweet gets tens of thousands of likes and the two accounts share the revenue. Justa a thing I observed.

and you're giving more engagement to them.
