On Sept. 11, 1973, the elected Socialist government of Salvador Allende of Chile was toppled in a right-wing military coup led by future dictator Augusto Pinochet and supported by the CIA

Surprised this is the only English language post about this today considering Lemmy's political background. America killed more people than the terrorist attacks by pushing for this coup.
