My wife and I used to pay $1.25 for a load of laundry with coins. They updated the washers and dryers with electronic payment, which took it to $2.50 a load. We learned through deliberate experimentation that a carefully timed closing of the mobile payment app will start your load, and not charge your account. We've been paying for half our laundry loads, keeping the cost at $1.25, balance has been restored.
