The Lemmy place to discuss veganism.

Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.

Wow that's crazy, banning specific types of restaurants in cities has to be one of the weirder things I've heard of. Also, there are loads of vegan restaurants in the main cities in Italy so no need to worry if you plan to visit!

I don't think product names should be misleading (i.e a product name containing the word beef that doesn't contain it), but all the rest of that is nuts. I couldn't imagine living in a place that forces the cuisine of restaurants or supermarkets or anything else.
