Lmao I thought you'd summarised the article in your own words but that's the real title! Again I've got to ask, is this the point where liberals begin to accept the west is struggling to supply Ukraine with enough munitions to achieve its goals. Probably not, tbh.

I doubt it as well to be honest, these people live in an alternate reality.

You’d think sleepy Joe would want to command production through the Defense Production Act, but I guess the neoliberal mind virus won’t allow it.

this is what happens when you start getting high on your own supply

I think it's because they care about Ukrainians at all. The current arrangement is very profitable for arms manufacturers so there's no need to change things. If Ukrainians run out of ammo and get killed, that's all fine in Washington. They still have several Slavic countries they can pit against the Russians should the need arise.

Serious question.

Can the imperialists bankrupt themselves if this keeps up? They will never be able to supply enough to Ukraine to win the war but I’m sure there are plenty in the government who are willing to this for decades.

Such a desperate attempt to keep Russia out of Europe. When the west loses this Cold War, there is a very real danger they escalate to nuclear war. Either that or they turn inwards and become a complete fascist block of the globe. They’re already a good way there.

I expect that ramping up the war industry is going to lead to mass austerity, and most western economies are already heading into recessions. This will keep fuelling public discontent and will likely translate into increasing civil unrest across western countries. We're already seeing that happening in France, and similar kind of stuff is likely to start happening all across Europe before long. We're also seeing public backlash building against the war and the politicians who have been championing it.

I think it's highly likely that western public will rebel against these policies before long. The west was doing well economically during the Cold War, and that's what produced mass support for the policies western governments pursued during that time. This time around people are seeing their material conditions deteriorating, and this leads to collapse of faith in the system.
