If they don't do anything new or crazy, it'll probably be a hard pass for me. Borderlands 3 was pretty mid and I'm pretty exhausted with the whole "looter shooter" genre. Plus my only memories of the previous Borderlands games are shooting the same enemies for hours while [insert NPC] is constantly talking into my ear. I honestly don't even remember the gameplay of those games without someone always talking over everything. Besides major plot points and memorable cutscenes, I think 80% of the dialogue just went in one ear and right out the other.

I have nothing against the games and I have nothing against people who like the games. People like what they like. I tried going back and playing through them all again a couple years ago and everything just felt tedious and boring. But if they can pull out all the stops and put in the effort, I might give it a try if my friends want me to get it.

Borderlands2 was pretty good imo. Played it with friends and found the dialogues funny and Handsome Jack was a good antagonist, just like Vaas from FarCry3.

Borderlands3 was just bad imo, it focused on the wrong aspects and elevated other things to appeal to younger audiences. I mean, the only reason for the bad guys to be bad guys was that they were bad guys, not someone who saw himself as a snobby hero and you as the bad guys he needs to stop.

I’ll definitely wait this one out until epic gives it away for free.

Just a heads up, this opinion is also based on the fact that I find the Far Cry games extremely boring and exhausting with side "quests":

Handsome Jack was definitively an amazing antagonist. Seemed like a believable character. I think that's where they fell off, honestly. The only good characters in Borderlands 3 were the ones from the previous games. The only thing keeping me interested through the tedium on my recent playthroughs were the characters. The constant back and forth within the same areas between NPC's and bounty boards for fetch quests would be unbearable without the characters. Unsurprisingly, Borderlands 3 was the only one I didn't finish upon replaying.

I‘m on spur side with the Far Cry games. They feel like checklists to complete rather than good games. FC3 and Blood Dragon were the only ones I truly enjoyed, and FC4 being the only other one I even finished. Albeit I finished it within. An hour because I actually did nothing until that dude come back lol

On a side note, that has to be the most entertaining Easter egg I've seen in a game. I remember showing it to my cousin and his jaw dropped. 😂

People complain a lot about Borderlands 3, many very rightfully so, but I find the actual moment to moment quite fun. I'll be interested in seeing how this looks so far as Randy Pitchford hasn't scared off whatever staff learned lessons from the several weak points of 3, as was the case for 2. It's a shame that the studio is plagued by such an inoperable hemorrhoid.
