I'm happy to see the OG back. That one was my favorite!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ve used the web app so far, until this version with app icons was available on iOS so that I could set it to the OG ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The new icon never bothered me enough to go that far. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It wasn’t really far? I just continued to use the fully equivalent web app I was already using, instead of installing the app from the store.

The app store version is a much better experience overall. That matters more to me than an icon or the name Wefwef.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

O.G. !!! Now I need to find a way to rename the app to wefwef 😏

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You can if you use the web app

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Actually, I still have my WefWef web app icon in a folder 😂 I forgot about it.

True true…

I have every confidence in the developer to add them and artists who love Voyager! This is easily the best Lemmy app! (In my personal opinion)

Wondering if this would be better positioned within the appearance settings...maybe??

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It’s more discoverable in the top level of settings, but I do see your point.

Everything would be more visible in the top level, until it isn’t, because everything is there.

Yes, in an imaginary world where everything is in the top level that would definitely be a problem.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I see your point too👍🏼

My favorite is psychedelic. It’s look strange and a bit creepy

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Love this new feature!!! And yeah, I would love to see the icon selection grow.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Mines not working. It isn’t changing the icon.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That’s an iOS bug that has been around for ages. You have to restart your phone

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You were right, but I have never encountered that bug before. Weird. Anyways, problem solved!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I have that for every single app that changes app icons. It’s really annoying

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The old turn it off and turn it back on solution, i always forget it exists… I should have tried it first!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

iOS or Android? And what version of Android?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

ios 16.3.1. I’m gonna do a software update and see if that changes anything since I see there’s one available for iOS. Whats the weirdest is that when I search for the app on my phone, the correct icon shows up in the search results, but everywhere else it’s the old one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Is it possible you have the PWA installed to the homescreen alongside the app? If you have duplicate icons that would explain it but also be very confusing :P

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

This is an iOS bug that has been around for years (thanks Apple), basically every app has that problem. You have to restart to see the updated app icon. You could probably add a disclaimer that says "if the icon isn’t updating, try restarting your device".

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That was the first thing I checked, and nope!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's very odd. Please keep me posted and I'll keep an eye out as well!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I can literally watch the icon change randomly. It is showing the old one but when I tap to open the app it briefly flashes the new icon before returning to the old one. Anyways, I’ll do the iOS update overnight and try again in the morning!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yes, I'm excited to add icons as time goes on!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I wholeheartedly agree!

I’m running the iOS version from the App Store. It’s top level under settings.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Wtf it’s in the App Store now? Weird, I can’t find it

Edit: Found it! Had to Google it though.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Waiting for the Material You icon.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Weird, I can't actually find this setting... It's supposed to be top level too, but my app says I'm up to date?

My version is 1.10.1 if that helps with anything.

I love the little space guy, I would love to have that as my app icon! (Not that OG is bad either, they're all lovely options)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's native app only - the PWA doesn't have support for changing icons :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It should be possible to implement this for PWAs though. I.e. let the service worker respond with a custom manifest . it might just take some time until the browser picks up the change and updates the icon.
