Okay, so it looks like there's a new alternative/backup to Symfonium. It's available on F-Droid, the Play Store and GitHub.

i respect it, but it has quite some way to go to be an alternative for me - as can be expected given the alpha status. I'll keep an eye on it, though!

Okay, so I've installed this, but the lack of options makes it unusable as a daily driver
