Interesting decision. All 4 reasons given kind of amount to the same thing, but I don't personally know the admins' experience so don't want to be too judgemental. I still think it's worth saying that making communities more closed off right now is unfortunate timing.

Yeah, this seems a wasteful choice. It also makes me think that the route of making a personal instance just for a log-in that doesn't have to worry about the moderators defederating is the best bet.
i hope they make it easier to do. It' would suck to have others block kbin.social but it may be inevitable. hope not
