The reddit app I used stopped working yesterday (yes I know why but it's funnier to pretend I don't) so here I am! Trying to figure out how lemmy works in the context of the larger fediverse.

I googled that and I didn't find it, what is that?
They mean wefwef, it's a Progressive Web App which means you visit their website (wefwef.app), press the three dots and select "Add to homescreen", instead of downloading it through the app store on your phone

Now Twitter shitting itself in the name of forcing subscriptions is causing a mass migration to Mastedon. The Fediverse is going to get incredibly popular....fast.
I could deal with not having reddit sync, but opening twitter today and seeing that I have a tweet ration made me immediately sign up for lemmy. I imagine a lot of people are similar
Was waiting for Narwhal to break and it never happened. Turns out the dev got a deal to not pay anything until he can release a ‘Narwhal 2’ that’s subscription only. Wasn’t an Apollo user but the dev got shafted and reddit didn’t offer anything close to what the Narwhal dev did. Still deleted my account as planned and deleted their app off my phone.
Yeah I saw that too, spez is a piece of shit, did you also see all the lies he made up about the Apollo dev? It was so childish lol
Yeah. I was following all his posts even though I preferred a different app. fuck spez and fuck the dev of narwhal for being a boot-licker.
Fuck spez, certainly, but I can easily understand why Narwhal’s developer took the deal. I’m sure they invested a huge amount of time and effort into their app and it’s hard to walk away from that when there’s a viable path forward. Apollo’s dev would have probably taken the same deal, had it been on the table. The problem was never that Reddit needed to start charging for API access, it’s that they priced it unreasonably high after assuring devs they wouldn’t and also gave very little notice before those prices took effect.

I'm mostly on the mend now and able to tap keys again. Which is timely given the recent Reddit and Twitter happenings!
I was gonna keep lurking Reddit until Sync shut down, now I'm on Lemmy. Took me a little bit to figure the platform out tbh, having third party apps for it now seems to be great.
It's pretty easy once you figure out where to sign up, and download whichever app you like best. It's actually pretty flexible imo
First comment on Lemmy! I think that it'll be hard to for people to understand instances at first but hopefully over time the value of chosing how you interact will be clear
