I love rhythm games (have been playing Bemani since the late 90s). How's the gameplay for this? Is it 4 lanes (2 on each side) and you hit buttons?

It's a little confusing. It's only two lanes, but they come at you from the left and right side. My mind has trouble when it switches from right to left, but you only attack low, or high. It's definitely worth a try since it's free. Make sure to see if turning off the effects make it easier for you. That's what I had to do.

I'm interested in checking it out. I'll report back how it went!

It's stylistically beautiful, but I had to turn off all the effects to even have a chance. It's essentially a place holder for the real game that's not out yet.

First impressions: I should not have tried this while drunk. In many rhythm games I actually find that gives me a bit of an edge on my first pass through.

I beat the first two difficulty levels of the first song, but could not get too far into the third difficulty level. My main issue right now is that it seems I cannot remap the keys? Seeing as it's two lanes that are on top and bottom, I want to use keys that are up and down and feel natural to me, but since I cannot remap keys in anyway that I could find, that makes it difficult. I'm sure I can eventually make left mean down and right mean up in my brain but that feels like an arbitrary difficulty milestone. I want to be challenged by the music and track map, not the controls.

I browsed through the previews of the other songs and so far I really like the music, it feels more rock/punk based. I find a lot of rhythm games I try out tend to lean towards more electronic/techno, which I am overall fine with, but I definitely jam more with rock and punk, so the track list so far has been a welcome surprise.

I'm definitely going to play this more and hopefully they add some key mapping later (or I just missed it and it's already there).

You actually can remap them! It's in Options>Controls>Custom>Key Bindings I had to remap mine too. I used "4","R" for the high, and "K","M" for low

This games music is honestly the best thing about it. Right behind it is the visual style. I can't wait to see what the real game will look like. It's supposed to be a rhythm game RPG.

Thanks! My drunken mind definitely got the better of me there. Now that I've remapped the keys, the game feels great. Immediately was able to jump to hard and expert on a couple songs:

I'm really loving this game already, will definitely be picking up the full version. The controls and mechanics feel like Muse Dash, but with a soundtrack and aesthetic that I much prefer. What an awesome find, thanks!

Wanted to follow up on this because I've been having such a good time with it. I'm two hours in and I finally beat all the non-remixed tracks on Unbeatable, mostly C ratings across the board. Mirror gave me a really hard time with the amount of long note lane switches and the series of quick beats. I tried the Proper Rhythmn remix and it destroyed me. It also has a long series of quick beats and I'm having a hard time starting it so I fail immediately. A practice mode would really help so I can play this section repeatedly to get the hang of it, I hope they include one in the full release.

One thing I don't like is that when you fail a track that you've never completed before, the track list doesn't have any indication of this because it just shows your highest score. Other than just remembering (which there aren't a ton of tracks yet), the best way I was able to determine a song had yet to be completed successfully was the score just seemed too low and the percentage of notes hit way too high for it. Once they've all been completed one time this will no longer be an issue of course, but it would be nice.

Other than that I am having a blast. The music is great and all original. I downloaded the soundtrack and have been rocking out to it at work which has helped with learning the rhythm patterns too. Worn Out Tapes sounds like it's going to be rough and a ton of fun to play in the full release, I can't wait.

Anyone else been sticking with this demo?
