Beaudelaire

  • Brush: Zenith 505BC SE
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 72-V (13/16", quarter hollow or near wedge, stainless steel)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann Beaudelaire
  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann Beaudelaire

Beaudelaire is definitely interesting. The green + MdS combo reminds me of ... anise? Looking forward to getting to know this scent better.

I seem to remember asking Will if he'd ever split Beaudelaire away from being a West Coast Shaving exclusive. I don't remember his exact response, but a little while later he sold it like a normal soap. I give myself 100% credit for it being available outside of WCS. You're welcome.

How do you like Petrichor?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

I really like funky, odd scents, so I like it a lot!

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Familiarity with this scent allows me to appreciate it more each time I use it. And the soap base is just terrific.

I pushed the edge on this razor into "over honing" territory when I honed it, but the Tamahagane steel seems to love it. The razor is screaming sharp but the Jnat finish just keeps it feather soft. The aftershave feedback told me that the soft feel and sharpness fooled me into applying more pressure than needed in a couple of areas, but there were no ill aftereffects.

Enjoy your weekend!

the soft feel and sharpness fooled me into applying more pressure than needed

I get that sometimes when using a fresh coated hair shaper blade. Sneaky

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

I agree completely. Even though I am aware of it, I get fooled by the hair shaper blade in the same way.
